For some reason I decided I want to run a 5K. I've never been a runner and I've got short legs, so this is kind of a funny idea. I found a treadmill on Craigslist and my goal is to be running the full 5K by the end of the year (I can run about 1.5 miles now, but the most at once is a half mile-the rest is in quarter mile increments broken up by quarter miles of walking). Our church usually participates in a Walk for Life 5K and I'm hoping to run that without falling over.
I was supposed to test for my green belt in Judo next month, but last night my Sensei said I have to participate in a tournament first. From what I understand, there are two types of competitors I'll go against. The young and spritely teenagers (who may or may not be any good, but they've got energy) or the older, seasoned brown and black belts (who may not have much energy but they are experienced). Given this information, I'm just looking to survive (since I have neither youth nor experience on my side). I won't be able to do one until January so unless Sensei forgets he said I need to do one, I have a couple of extra months
Now going back to my first paragraph, I think it's time for me to drag the boys away from the playroom and down to the schoolroom so I can educate them.
